Business Assistance Abstract: The Cool Space Locator (CSL) SSLDC, ELDI, and BGC contract will provide site location assistance to businesses locating in the Pittsburgh Technology Zone. CSL has demonstrated ongoing success in placing businesses in often difficult and unusual urban spaces in Pittsburgh’s urban core. CSL provides professional site location assistance using a battery of tools, including a professional brokerage license.

Business Assistance Abstract: This contract will help implement Phase II of the Northside Supplier Network Website www.northsidebiz.com . This website is an interactive web-based service for Northside businesses under the North Side Chamber. The website is a tool for business to business commerce between Northside located businesses. Phase II moves the site from a pilot phase to a working, more robust tool widely available and marketed to the whole of Northside located businesses.

Technology Seeding II

Business Assistance Abstract: This contract is Phase II of the Technology Seeding Project (Phase I was also funded in party by Tech Zone funds). The overall goal of the Tech Seeding Project is to help two Pittsburgh Main Street business districts (Strip District and Lawrenceville) businesses to adopt new computer and web based technology to help these businesses compete more efficiently and work smarter in the market place. Phase II will complete the successful technology implementation of the 3 remaining (of 10) Phase I participants yet to have their technology plans implemented and add 8 new participants. The Tech Seeding Project will leverage over $16,000 in private funds.

African American Chamber of Commerce

Business Assistance Abstract: This contract will help the African American Chamber to host a number of information technology clinics leveraging the success of other business assistance clinics through the Chamber’s Business Institute model. The URA will work with the Chamber to identify participants and the Chamber’s Business Institute’s existing successful business assistance clinics will be the model. The Chamber’s Business Institute provides technical assistance to businesses in a variety of subjects (IT will be new with the help of the Tech Zone) using a model that leverages the expertise and largess of business partners and members of the African American Chamber as consultants to businesses in need of expert help.

Business Assistance Abstract: CCAC will provide professional development workshops targeted to small entrepreneurial businesses to help them grow and better compete in the local marketplace. CCAC will partner with the Northside Leadership Conference to identify local businesses to participate in the 5 week long training session.

Business Assistance Abstract: This contract is for workforce development workshops for East Liberty business employers. The goal of the workshops is to train current employees in the areas of computer technology use, assistance and access. These workshops will train employees to be more productive and more valuable employees and in turn make their employers operations more efficient.
