In June of 2010, ShowClix, Inc. agreed to a loan from the Pittsburgh Entrepreneur Fund in support of working capital to help continue the company’s rapid growth.

The company, which is based in Pittsburgh, provides a web-based solution for event organizers, promoters and venue managers across the United States. Now staffed with 32 employees and growing, and a solid reputation for service, the company provides an easy, affordable way to sell event tickets online, over the telephone and in person through their proprietary point-of-sale/box office system.

In addition to the influx of financial resources, ShowClix gained several advantages from their relationship with the URA. Tom Costa, Chief Operating Officer, says “the opportunity for us was easy, not only did it bridge the gap between funding rounds, but it also gave us exposure throughout Pittsburgh.”

As a resource for the Pittsburgh region, the URA began connecting ShowClix with other opportunities. Additionally, Costa adds that the staff of the URA was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, “Tom Link and John Burke are very progressive and involved with the entire process. You can tell that they genuinely want to be a part of the tech community, which is unusual for a funding partner.”

Last year, the firm doubled it's employee count and moved from it's 3,500 square foot office in Shadyside to more than 12,000 square feet in a Downtown office building. The new space will allow ShowClix to hire an additional 20 employees this year, as they continue to generate new ticketing systems like MMS via mobile phones.

The goal of the Pittsburgh Entrepreneur Fund is to assist entrepreneurs and stimulate business growth in the City of Pittsburgh in a variety of industries including Information Technology, Life Sciences, Green/Energy and other high growth enterprises. You can learn more by clicking here
