More Than $6.9 million in LSA Grants Awarded to Support Pittsburgh Community Projects

URA to Serve as Pass-Through Agency

The Commonwealth Financing Authority has awarded $6,931,456 in Local Share Account (LSA) grants to advance 23 projects throughout the City of Pittsburgh.  

As a designated project sponsor, the Urban Redevelopment Authority of Pittsburgh (URA) applies to the LSA grant program on behalf of nonprofit organizations with eligible projects within the City of Pittsburgh and works with the awardees to administer the funds in compliance with the program requirements.

The projects receiving 2026 LSA funds, with URA as the pass-through entity, will support improvements to community facilities, cultural organizations, infrastructure, housing and other neighborhood assets throughout the City of Pittsburgh. The awardees include:

• Community Specialists Corporation – 2026 Dormitory Window Project
  
  
• Community Theater Project Corp. – Kelly Strayhorn Theater Renovation
  
  
• Freedom Unlimited, Inc. – Alma Speed Fox Building Rehabilitation Project

"These grants represent critical investments towards the organizations and community spaces that help Pittsburgh neighborhoods thrive, from community facilities and cultural spaces, to infrastructure and mixed-use developments," said Marcus Robinson, URA assistant director of Grants, Compliance, and Quality Assurance. "The URA is grateful to serve as a trusted partner and administrator of Commonwealth funds as these organizations advance work that will benefit Pittsburghers every day and strengthen our communities."

Additionally, the Office of Mayor Corey O'Connor recently announced LSA grants awarded directly to the City of Pittsburgh and Pittsburgh Land Bank, a URA affiliate, for the purchase of a new pumper truck and for stabilization of properties in the Hilltop neighborhoods to be redeveloped into housing.
