The URA’s Real Estate team identifies, analyzes, and acquires properties throughout the City of Pittsburgh for development projects. The URA works across the city to promote neighborhood revitalization that benefits residents, grows Pittsburgh’s economy, and empowers our neighbors to shape their communities.
Along with our affiliate, Pittsburgh Land Bank, the URA works to identify vacant land and return it to productive use. Our goals are to eliminate blight, revitalize vacant properties, and provide opportunities for all Pittsburghers to grow with the city.
As a redevelopment authority, the URA is bound by the Commonwealth of PA’s Urban Redevelopment Law. The URA must ensure that property conveyances and dispositions follow the state’s requirements. In this role, the URA vets potential developers and land uses, confirms that redevelopment projects are consistent with the needs and goals of the neighborhood and City, and holds redevelopers responsible for completing projects as approved.
