URA Announces Housing Opportunity Fund 2024 Annual Report is Now Online

July 2025

The report covers the Housing Opportunity Fund's impact during calendar year 2024.

The Urban Redevelopment Authority of Pittsburgh (URA) released its 2024 Housing Opportunity Fund Annual Report this month.

The Housing Opportunity Fund is a trust fund that aims to increase and preserve the supply of decent, safe, and sanitary affordable housing for low-income households. The City of Pittsburgh has committed $10 million per year to fund the HOF programs and activities. The report, available online, covers 2024 calendar year activity.

“Whether through creating new housing, helping residents avoid a housing crisis, preserving and extending the affordability of an existing unit, or providing families with the opportunity to become homeowners, the resources provided through the Housing Opportunity Fund continue to be a critical piece behind the progress we’ve achieved,” said Mayor Ed Gainey. “We are committed to advancing housing programs and services that meet the
needs of our residents, ultimately making it possible for them to thrive.”

“Many of our neighbors are dealing with rising costs of living and economic instability. Though timebound, the HOF is one of the City’s best tools to ensure our most vulnerable residents can access quality, safe, and affordable housing,” said URA Executive Director Susheela Nemani-Stanger. “As you make your way through this report, it’s important to remember that each outcome represents people, families, and neighbors who now sleep more comfortably and can now thrive as a result.”

2024 Impact Includes:

  • Creating and preserving 204 units of affordable housing

  • Assisting 52 homeowners with repairs

  • Preventing eviction and helping to stabilize 1,545 households

  • Helping 93 households buy their first homes
