On January 18, Pittsburghers received the news they had been waiting to hear: The Pittsburgh region made the list of 20 locations that would continue in the selection process to host Amazon's second headquarters.

County Executive Rich Fitzgerald, Mayor Bill Peduto and Stefani Pashman, CEO of the Allegheny Conference on Community Development - the organization which houses PGHQ2 - issued a statement:

"On behalf of the regional partnership that submitted Pittsburgh’s proposal to host Amazon’s second headquarters, we are excited that Amazon has announced today that the Pittsburgh region is on its list of 20 locations that will continue in the selection process. We are proud that our proposal, Future. Forged. For All., stood out as a top submission from the 238 proposals Amazon received through its RFP. We are grateful to the members of the public and private sectors for their leadership which has gotten us to this stage and upon which we will rely moving forward. We commend our many community partners on the good work that resulted in Pittsburgh advancing in the site selection process." Read more.

According to Amazon's press release, "In the coming months, Amazon will work with each of the candidate locations to dive deeper into their proposals, request additional information, and evaluate the feasibility of a future partnership that can accommodate the company’s hiring plans as well as benefit its employees and the local community. Amazon expects to make a decision in 2018."

County Executive Fitzgerald, Mayor Peduto and Ms. Pashman had more to say about Pittsburgh making the list of 20 on Our Region's Business - a Sunday-morning business affairs program co-produced by the Allegheny Conference on Community Development and WPXI-TV. The show is hosted by Bill Flanagan, who is chief corporate relations officer for the Allegheny Conference and its affiliated organizations. Watch video Segment 1 and video Segment 2.
