The Urban Redevelopment Authority of Pittsburgh, in conjunction with the City of Pittsburgh’s Main & Main Initiative, provides grant funding for storefront renovations.
About the Program
The Commercial Façade Grant Program provides grant funding to improve the physical appearance of commercial storefronts and building facades in Pittsburgh’s neighborhoods, as part of the City of Pittsburgh's Main & Main Initiative.
Applications for this program are open until Friday, May 29, 2026, at 5:00 p.m.
Financing
Eligible businesses may receive a grant for up to 75% of renovation costs, or up to $20,000 maximum, in reimbursement for eligible improvements.
Fees
- $50 non-refundable intake fee which must be paid before an application can be reviewed.
- $300 administrative application fee for funded projects, which may be financed at closing.
- A 4% due diligence fee, which may be financed at closing.
Eligible Uses
The funds are designed to help business owners or landlords of commercial properties make improvements to the exterior appearance of their building with new signage, lighting, windows, doors, paint, brick pointing, or sidewalk activation.
How to Apply

- Confirm Eligibility: Verify ground-floor commercial use and check the City of Pittsburgh map to ensure your project is located within Pittsburgh city limits. Projects outside Pittsburgh city limits are not eligible.
- Plan Your Project: Define the scope of improvements and review the URA Facade Design Guidelines; consult your neighborhood organization or Council District Office if needed.
- Gather Quotes: Obtain at least one contractor quote (multiple recommended) with clear scope and itemized costs.
- Prepare Materials: Collect facade photos, project description (renderings or written scope), W-9, and owner permission (if applicable).
- Submit Application: Complete and submit all required materials with the $50 fee before the deadline.
- Next Steps: A lending analyst will contact you to guide you through review, approval, and project completion.
