A Message of Solidarity from URA Staff and Leadership

June 4, 2020

As a nation and a city, we find ourselves in an increasingly familiar state of unrest and upheaval following another senseless death of an unarmed black man at the hands of police.

How this country deals with the multiple crises confronting us will affect the future of cities as places of diversity, tolerance, creativity, and economic opportunity. Systemic change starts with us.

Bigotry, racism, and prejudice of any kind are harmful to all of humanity, but they are particularly harmful to our African-American brothers and sisters because it often means the difference between life and death. This is an intolerable burden no one should have to face.

We all have a duty to help reduce the unfairness and inequality that has become endemic in our society.

We recognize this duty and that it is within our mission and power to help fix this in small ways and big.

We are committed to doing our part.

In Solidarity,

URA Staff and Leadership
